Accuracy and Simplicity
We are often asked how we landed on the specific wording of our audit questions. The answer is that audit questions are designed to balance both the intent of the regulation (in other words, accurate) and the desire of our users (in other words, simple). So while we could simply regurgitate the regulations, that's not what users want. And while we could create short audits with easy questions, that's not what regulators require.
Core Principles
Our audit content is guided by three principles:
- Coverage. With rare exception, we cover 100% of the rules that apply to licensed operators of cannabis businesses. This means our regulatory analysts scour a variety of statutes, regulations, and ordinances for the jurisdictions we cover. Note that we generally do not cover testing labs or other license types designed for isolated use cases - coverage varies by state.
- Currency. Once we adopt a jurisdiction, we monitor its regulations for updates. When an update affects our content, we update our content accordingly. It happens automatically "behind the scenes," but you can verify for yourself by checking the content release notes in your state.
- Readability. We work hard to transform regulations, which are often written at an advanced graduate school level, to a high school reading level. For a detailed explanation, we encourage you to read this blog post on Operation Easy Read!
