We monitor all jurisdictions for regulatory updates and update our content types as appropriate. As a reminder, our content types are Audit Content, Smart Cabinet, SOP Templates, and Labeling Checklists.
Monitoring is handled primarily through subscription services. Nearly all jurisdictions post their latest regulations on a website and allow people to subscribe to updates. As notifications are received, a member of our Regulatory Affairs Department is assigned the task of reviewing the notification to determine whether a change has been made that impacts any our content types.
- If an impact is identified, the work is scheduled in our production queue and tracked through to release.
- If there isn't an impact, the notification is logged in case someone later has a question about whether we received or reviewed the notification.
A few jurisdictions do not provide any sort of notification service. In these cases, we set reminders to manually check on the jurisdiction. The frequency of these checks varies based on the size of the jurisdiction.
Note that it is possible for our content to update even though the regulations remain the same. There are two general ways this could happen:
- We receive user feedback and incorporate changes as a result. We may have found a better way to structure questions about a confusing regulation, added a best practice to an SOP template, updated a list of required items, and so on.
- We proactively update our content based on internal content improvement initiatives. For example, Operation Easy Read improved the readability of our audit content by 39%. We are constantly on the look-out for ways to reduce the number of questions in an audit, make our SOP templates more usable for specific licensees, and so on.
